Most extreme places in Alaska

Alaska, one of the States in the U.S.A, is one of the few places in the North America known to still harbor the nature’s extremes. Located in the North-West of Canada, it is the largest State in the US and is only sparsely populated.

For nature lovers, seeking Alaska Adventure is one of the greatest experiences you could ever dream of. The state is full of dramatic wide open spaces of diverse terrains, ice capped mountains, beautiful forests, and wild animals abound.
It is a suitable destination for those who are thrilled with outdoor activities such as mountain biking, skiing, and kayaking. The following are some of the most extreme places in Alaska worth visiting on your nest Alaska Travel.

Dalton Highway

Alaska Adventures
Dalton Highway is approximately over 600- km in length and undoubtedly considered one of the most interesting roads for a road trip in Alaska.

Dalton highway was constructed in 1974 to provide a service road specifically for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline whose origin is at the Prudhoe Bay Oil field.

This road runs from Livengood in the south to Prudhoe Bay in the North, on its path it traverses some of the most interesting natural features as it goes through forests and tundra, towering brook range, and over the northern slope to finally terminate at the Arctic Ocean.

Traveling this road makes you realize that it is a classic case of the journey through it being more interesting than the actual destination.

Perhaps one of the most interesting features to watch for along the stretch is the Atigun pass, a high mountain pass through the Brook Range.

Its elevation at 1,444 m is the highest pass in the State of Alaska and it has been responsible for taking some drivers off the road. It is also prone to avalanches during winter seasons.

Enjoy the sight of Denali

Alaska Travel

The summit of Mt. McKinley currently also known as Mt. Denali stands tall at about 6194 m in altitude and probably the highest point in North America.

Flying for site seeing over Mt. McKinley is also possible; this gives you both an effortless and less energy consuming experience.

The Native Americans have called it Denali’ which means the great one’ but the Alaska state uses the Mountains official name McKinley’ in honor of one of the U.S.A presidents who was assassinated in 1901.

Sitting on the base of this epic feature is a sight to behold, unlike the Everest; it has a larger base to its peak height and it is surrounded by other mountains although its peak rises unchallenged from the surrounding Tundra.

Conquering this mountain peak is no mean feat, mountain climbers who would love to experience great Alaska adventure, should be aware that it takes an iron fitness to accomplish such a mission. It requires the guide of a reputed travel company for a safer climbing.

However, it is also worth noting that you can still study this mountain safely from a distance such as using one of Denali’s National park shuttle buses. This will offer you a cheaper and a more safe way of exploring this beautiful marvel.
